Delaware may be a small state, but with about 350 miles of coastline there are ample opportunities to take in natural beauty in a big way. The seaside sunrises on Delaware beaches are beyond compare. We love that Delaware is comprised of only three counties because that means this state is close knit.

Delaware is known as the “First State,” as it was the first state to ratify the US Constitution. Even though it is the sixth most densely populated state in the US with 442.6 people per square mile, it is the second smallest in area after Rhode Island. It is one of only 5 states in the US without a single city of more than 100,000 people. Delaware is home to Dover Air Force Base and Dover International Speedway, both representing a big part of the economy. The main industries are Poultry/Agriculture, tourism and banking.

In the last five years, the Delaware office of SERCAP has been involved in 20 individual community projects, serving a total population of 45,434. An average of 31%, or 5,655 were low income and an average of 36%, or 11,419 were minorities. This compares to Delaware’s statewide population of just over 950,000 with a median household income of over $61,000 and about 31% minorities.

The Delaware office offers services to communities covering water, wastewater, solid waste and sustainability issues. The SERCAP team is honored to serve the rural communities--and the people who comprise those communities--within Delaware.
