SERCAP's Housing Department to Assist Family of Two in Pulaski County, VA!

SERCAP---Pulaski-County-Program-Income-Project---2018---2

Currently, SERCAP’s Housing Department working to get a new project approved in Pulaski County, in order to help a low-income, elderly, disabled woman and her daughter to replace their rotting deck. The rotting deck is connected to the main entrance of their home and is a major safety hazard. If the deck were to collapse, anyone standing or sitting on it could be severely injured.

The project was referred to SERCAP by the local Department of Social Services, and SERCAP’s Housing Staff is currently working with the internal committee, that oversees Program Income projects, to get the project approved and awarded to Robert Welch Contractors, Inc. Once approved, SERCAP will award the clients a $10,000 forgivable loan through Program Income Funds (part of the Indoor Plumbing & Rehabilitation Program), and construction on the new deck will begin.

Without SERCAP’s Housing Rehabilitation Program, and other similar services, many low-income individuals and communities would be forced to go without such necessities as safe and affordable housing, indoor plumbing, reliable access to clean drinking water, water/wastewater infrastructure solutions, other community development and infrastructure needs, and more. It is important to remember that even in the US in the 21st Century; there are those who do not have reliable access to clean, safe drinking water, environmentally sound septic facilities, and affordable housing. In order to help SERCAP continue to provide assistance to both the individuals and communities in need, please consider making a donation to SERCAP’s Water Life! Fund!
