SERCAP’s Housing Counseling Program Delivers Online Series of Holiday Focused Financial Education Workshops!

Throughout November and December 2020, SERCAP’s Housing Counseling Program has been delivering its Holiday Extravaganza Financial Education Workshops as an Online workshop series. Since becoming a HUD approved Local Housing Counseling Agency (LHCA) in 2012, SERCAP’s Housing Counseling Program has served over a thousand clients through a variety of Housing Counseling and Financial Literacy services. This year, SERCAP created and executed a series of Holiday focused Financial Literacy workshops, which have been providing participants with information, tools, and resources related to: Budgeting for Holiday Spending, Rental Education, and Predatory Lending and Scam Prevention.

Thus far this year, SERCAP’s Housing Counseling Program has hosted four (4) of these Holiday focused Workshops, on: November 17, 2020; November 21, 2020; December 1, 2020; and December 5, 2020. SERCAP’s Holiday Extravaganza Workshops have taught participants how to create a holiday spending plan that’s already within one’s current budget, to plan for January bills and budget items, and how to protect oneself and avoid scams that are especially prevalent during the holiday season.

Without SERCAP’s full slate of Programs and Services, many low-to-moderate income (LMI) individuals and rural communities would be forced to go without such necessities as safe and affordable housing, reliable access to clean drinking water, indoor plumbing, community development and infrastructure needs, water/wastewater infrastructure solutions, and more. It is important to remember that even in the US in the 21st Century; there are those who do not have reliable access to clean, safe drinking water, environmentally sound septic facilities, and affordable housing. In order to help SERCAP continue to provide assistance to both the individuals and communities in need, please consider making a donation to SERCAP’s Water Life! Fund!
