Meet Beth Pusha
Here at SERCAP, our work wouldn’t be possible without a strong team of dedicated individuals serving our community. Beth Pusha is one of our amazing directors, and has been serving with SERCAP for an amazing 26 years!
Beth is our Director of Housing & Community Development. She works to support and encourage the Housing & Community teams, and to secure funding and partnership opportunities for SERCAP. She’s also in charge of improving the effectiveness of the Housing & Community Development programs.
“I love helping people!” she exclaimed. “I come to work each day so I can make a positive impact upon the lives of our clients by helping them receive financial and economic assistance from SERCAP.”
Along with her incredible drive and passion for this work, Beth is an amazing asset to our team because of her authentic empathy and deep-rooted compassion for those with whom she works. “I can empathize with families who are on well water and understand how they feel when their well becomes dry,” she said. “Growing up in South Georgia...with my grandparents on a small family farm, sometimes the well would become dry. And when it’s dry, the uncertainty of having water for basic necessities like drinking, cooking, and bathing can become crippling.
“Seeing the conditions many of our clients live in literally breaks my heart,” she said. That’s why she takes her job so seriously, out of respect for those SERCAP serves. Her programs need to run smoothly, efficiently, and within the rules of the agency in order to help as many communities as they can.
“Working at SERCAP keeps me grounded....We assume that in 2018 everyone has the advantages of the different sources of drinking water, and wastewater. But we discover that there are still communities that are suffering from these disadvantages in this state and others...There are so many people who live in our communities who do not have basic necessities of life,” Beth explained.
“My favorite part of the job is witnessing changes in communities. It is amazing to see how a community changes from something as simple and easily taken for granted like clean water,” she said. “I thrive on seeing people become empowered as a result of assistance they receive from SERCAP.”
For Beth, it all comes down to customer satisfaction and efficient teamwork. “My ideal day at work is when customers are served quickly, to the best of our ability, and are satisfied with the service they receive from our team; when staff is creative and thinks outside of the box, and completes paperwork efficiently; when problems are solved amicably and immediately; and when all vendors are paid on time,” she said.
When Beth isn’t serving the community, she’s with her family. “My husband, Lee, and I have three children, and for me, ‘fun’ is being involved in their activities,” she explained. “Be it college, high school, or middle school, my husband and I are always busy with something involving our kids. It’s fun to be part of their lives and watch them grow up.”
