VIDA or the Virginia Individual Development Accounts Program is administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to assist low income individuals achieve home ownership, post-secondary education or a business start-up/expansion though match savings and training. The program supports increased long-term household financial stability through asset development. Up to $4,000 is matched $2 for every $1 the participant saves from earned income or tax refunds.
Participants of the VIDA program, in addition to saving, also complete financial and household management training sessions targeted to their specific savings goal. SERCAP has partnered with Money Management International to provide this educational component. All participants receive financial counseling and educational resources at no cost to them.
